ARCATA- Coast Guard crews used a helicopter to rescue a distressed woman on the beach early Friday morning. The woman was taken from Mad River Beach to the Arcata/Eureka Airport without any injuries.

Sector Humboldt Bay received a call at 3:58 a.m. that residents had heard the woman yelling on the beach from their home nearby. Crews choose to use a helicopter because of the woman's remote location on the beach said Public Affairs Officers Lt. Brian Ward.

The woman was rescued from the beach without any injuries and was released to the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office for care.
