EUREKA- Twenty-seven cadets are on their way to a career in law enforcement. On Thursday the 114th Basic Academy Class graduated at College of the Redwoods.

The graduation marks 6 months of emergency response training for the men and women. At the ceremony, several cadets were recognized with special honors for fitness, scholastics and other area achievements. Friends and family filled CR’s theatre for the graduation. But for one family, it was a very special moment: a cadet following in his father’s footsteps with hopes of also joining the Eureka Police Department.

“He's been a really great influence and has shown me another side of law enforcement which definitely interested me in that as a profession, so yes he was very influential in that,” Graduating Cadet Ben Altic said.
