College of the Redwoods to offer intensive health care classes
College of the Redwoods will soon be offering three intensive health care classes.
Classes will include injections, venipuncture and IV therapy.
Injections and venipunction will be held on May 20th and May 21st, respectively, and will cover injection sites, how to draw blood, drug dosage calculation and more.
IV therapy is a three day course for nurses, which fulfills the requirements of the state for IV certification.
These classes are intended for those who work in the medical field seeking advancement.
"I think it's going to benefit the community because we are going to have people who are trained in being able to give shots and being able to administer IVs,” said Community Education Director of CR, Prudence Ratliff, “Whether it's in an ambulance if you're being picked up to be taken to the hospital or you're in the hospital having something done. We're going to have the people that are going to have the knowledge to be able to do the job the way that it needs to be done properly. We're heavily regulated by the state so all of our classes meet the state requirements."
It's important to register for these classes as soon as possible because they fill up fast.
