EUREKA- It’s back to school here on the North Coast. College students were getting settled into the dorms Friday, marking their final weekend before the school year begins.

“It’s pretty cool actually. I've already made a lot of friends. People are cool and funny and friendly for the most part,” said Taylor Christiansen, a first time dorm resident at College of the Redwoods.

College of the Redwoods and Humboldt State University begin classes on Monday. For some freshman, it’s their first time away from home.

“It’s hard because like you're leaving your family. But at the same time you're meeting new people and making new friends so it's interesting,” said Brydie Dinning, a freshman at College of the Redwoods.

Already both campuses are alive with activity as students prepare for yet another year of study.
