Commercial crab season to open Monday, December 1st
EUREKA - If you’ve been waiting for the commercial crab season to kick off on the North Coast you have less than a week to wait.
The season north of Mendocino begins at 12:01 am December 1, 2014. Prior to opening, fishermen are allowed a sixty four hour gear setting period beginning no earlier that 8am on Friday, November 28.
Department of Fish and Wildlife Officials say quality testing shows the shellfish to be in excellent health and ready for harvest. Some years, the testing isn’t so good and the commercial season hasn’t started until January.
Oregon and Washington’s commercial crab opener will begin on the same day.
Will lowering the speed limit in Eureka make roads more safe?
