FORTUNA- One thousand marijuana plants, 50 pounds of processed marijuana and 14 grams of methamphetamine were discovered this morning inside an industrial complex in Fortuna.

The discovery is part of a two year investigation into commercial marijuana production within the city. Around 7:30 a.m. police served a search warrant on the 600 block of L Street. The grow operation spanned four building units, with one unit containing a make-shift loft designed for cultivation.

Authorities have identified two suspects, 54 year old Heidi Chandler and 57 year old Scott Chandler, but have not made any arrests.

"We take this kind of stuff very seriously," Sgt. Charles Ellebrecht said. "We believe this to be a commercial operation. We're not going to tolerate the commercial growing and processing of marijuana. Like I said, we take that stuff very seriously, you know and if you believe someone is commercially growing in your neighborhood definitely feel free to give us a call."

Officers served another warrant on the 3300  block of Tami Drive. Several items were seized as evidence.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Fortuna Police Department.
