Coroner identifies body of man found near Redwood Acres
The Humboldt County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of a body found Monday evening; 60-year-old John Wayne Hill of Eureka.
A man walking his dog in a wooded area Monday evening near the intersection of Harris and Girard streets found Hill’s body. Investigators say he was about 100 yards off of a trail and that his body was badly decomposed.
Tuesday the coroner’s office said that Hill had been missing for about 2 weeks.
Officials say the death does not appear to be suspicious but as to how Hill came to be where his body was found is still under investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday.
