Correctional Officer arrested for allegedly stabbing a person in the throat
CRESCENT CITY- An employee at Pelican Bay State Prison was arrested on Sunday for allegedly stabbing a person in the throat.
The stabbing happened around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday at Shooters Billiards and Darts in Crescent City. According to the Crescent City Police Department, the suspect is 30-year-old Matthew Honeycutt, a Correctional Officer at Pelican Bay. Police said that Honeycutt was approached by another male, when for reasons still under investigation the two began to argue. It was then that Honeycutt allegedly pulled out a knife and cut the other man in the throat.
Honeycutt was arrested and has since posted bail. He’s now facing charges for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Attempted Murder.
As for the victim, he was taken to the hospital for life-threatening injuries.
