Council considers other options for road in Creamery District
ARCATA- There will be no 8 1/2 Street connecting N and O streets in the Creamery District. The City Council reversed a previous decision they made in September and have directed staff to look at other options.
Several residents urged the council to reconsider there decision to connect both streets between 8th and 9th street at Wednesday's meeting. They said the road, mid block, would disrupt traffic flow and make the area less safe for larger trucks and general traffic.
Staff will look into connecting the streets through 9th street and consider extending what was formerly Slaughter House Road off Samoa.
If the council chooses to move forward with the 9th street extension, Eel River Disposal will loose a portion of their property.
Staff is expected to bring other options to the council at a future meeting.
