County asks for community input about campaign finance cap
HUMBOLDT COUNTY- It is an issue the county has long had concerns over, a campaign finance cap. But today county supervisors did not make a definite decision about a possible ordinance, and instead are asking for more community input.
In February the board directed staff to examine and vet the campaign finance reform of Sonoma County, and bring back the findings. Now, the board wants the public to give back its input on the county’s website.
Only 18 counties in the state currently have a finance cap on campaign donations. The county has no cap for donations or monetary contributions made to a specific campaign.
If an ordinance is created it would put limits on the amount of money either one individual or a group could donate.
