Court delays in Arcata double murder case, trial of E.P.D. Sergeant

Jury trial setting for Eureka Police Department Sergeant Adam Laird has been delayed for another 30 days.


Laird is charged with assault of a John Doe victim, then filing a false report about it.

Monday in court Laird’s attorney asked to continue the case to allow more time to discuss the case with the District Attorney’s office.


Laird’s case heads back to court September 25th.



Court Monday for Arcata double murder suspect Bodhi Tree has also been pushed back.


He’s charged with two counts of murder with special allegations for alleged shootings at a north Arcata home in May.


Tree has already pleaded not guilty. What’s now delaying his case; a motion to amend the criminal complaint. Tree will be back in court on Wednesday, August 28th.
