Covered California enrollment begins Saturday

NORTH COAST- Open enrollment for Covered California begins Saturday. This is the state's insurance plan under the Affordable Care Act.

All state residents, even those with pre-existing conditions or who are unable to afford medical coverage can qualify. More than one million people are currently covered under the plan said the Humboldt County Department of Health and Human Services.

Open enrollment runs from Saturday, November 15 until February 15.

DHHS said those with questions can call for assistance at 1-800-300-1506. Due to the expected increase in call volume, call centers have extended their hours to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mon-Fri and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.
