Crescent City man charged with attempted murder after assaulting deputy
CRESCENT CITY- The Del Norte County District Attorney's office has decided to charge a Crescent City man who assaulted an officer with attempted murder.
71-year old William Alberts allegedly assaulted his family, slashing a glass door with a machete, and then threw that machete at a deputy.
It happened Monday on the 2200 block of Holben road. Alberts and one deputy were taken to the hospital for treatment from cuts from the glass of the door. The deputy has since been released from the hospital and all the family members within the home are unharmed.
The District Attorney’s office has charged him with attempted murder of a peace officer, assault on a peace officer, and a series of other charges. He is being held on $1,000,000 bail.
