A Crescent City man drowns in the Klamath River

KLAMATH- A Crescent city man is dead after he drowned in the Klamath River. The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office says his boat capsized. They say 34-year-old Ryan Ellis-Sanderson and 31-year-old Moochy Dowd both of Crescent City, were in a small rowboat when their motor failed. Deputies say they started to float through the mouth of the Klamath into a swell of 10 to 15 foot waves, capsizing their boat.
Dowd was able to swim safely back to shore, but Ellis-Sanderson was later found dead after his body washed onto the beach.
As for Dowd, she was suffering a mild case of hypothermia and was transported to an area hospital.
