EUREKA - A bomb scare sends hundreds of shoppers out of stores and into the streets in Eureka and Arcata.
According to Eureka Police just before 1:30 Sunday afternoon, a call came into a CVS store with the caller trying to extort money. Allegedly they said, if CVS didn't add $10,000 to a green dot card, a bomb would be set off.
Officials say the cards then can be used to transfer money. No transaction was made but authorities evacuated the CVS stores on the Eureka Mall and on Myrtle Avenue as well as the Arcata store as precaution.
For the last several months, CVS stores have been hit with this kind of call all over the nation.
