The federal government is allowing one more day for people signing up for Obamacare. However… that’s not entirely the case for Californians— where the deadline is still today.
Covered California Officials are allowing an extra day to those who made an effort to start the application Monday. The website is dealing with huge volumes of people signing up and has had some glitches.
The health insurance coverage kicks in on January 1 for those who sign up today. The health exchange said preliminary figures show 400,000 Californians have enrolled.
Customers who enroll in a new health plan have until January 6th to pay their premium. The hotline for covered California will be open Christmas Eve, closed on Christmas and open through the weekend. That number is 800-300-1506.
