Del Norte County residents working to improve local schools
CRESCENT CITY- Del Norte County residents are working to improve their local schools. A community meeting will be held on Wednesday at 5:30 at the Cultural Center in Crescent City. Residents will be discussing the new law that will bring California schools more money and more local control.
It’s part of the California Endowment’s 12-city School Success Express Bus Tour. The tour aims to raise awareness about the new Fair School Funding Law, also known as the Local Control Funding Formula. The new law was approved in July and is expected to increase funding over the next eight years for local schools.
According to officials the new law will increase the Del Norte Coutny Schools budget by over $13 million once it takes full effect. At the meeting tomorrow officials will be asking parents how they want to spend the new funds.
