Del Norte Supervisors approve new tax to help save county fair
CRESCENT CITY- To help save the Del Norte County Fair, the Board of Supervisors approved a 0.25-cent sales tax at Tuesdays meeting.
After the state ended funding for fairs, the Del Norte Fair Board said they would lose $180,000 in funds. But before the tax ordinance is enacted, the voters in the November general election must approve the tax.
This is a special tax, meaning the revenues generated will only be used to support the Del Norte County Fair. According to the staff report, the tax is set to expire 7-years from its implementation.
