DNSO: A Gasquet man confesses to 10 bank robberies
A Gasquet man has been arrested for a string of bank robberies, from the North Coast to Southern Oregon. The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office tells News Channel 3 that 58-year-old Mark Alan Cardinal has confessed to robbing 10 banks over the last ten months. Six of those bank robberies are in Oregon and the other four were in Arcata, McKinleyville, and two in Crescent City. Cardinal was caught Monday after allegedly robbing a bank in Grants Pass that morning; Oregon State Police spotted his vehicle and arrested him. The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office was called in to search his home in Gasquet.
Cardinal is currently being held in an Oregon jail, where he faces three counts of bank robbery and first-degree theft charges.
