Drugs and fireworks found during vehicle search in Blue Lake
BLUE LAKE- Illegal fireworks, drug paraphernalia, and methamphetamine are among the list of illegal items found after a routine traffic stop in Blue Lake.
A Humboldt County sheriff’s deputy stopped the vehicle around 9:30 pm Sunday for speeding, but after a search of the driver’s truck law enforcement found 9 grams of methamphetamine, less than one ounce of marijuana and a Firequick Flare inside the vehicle.
Flares shoot out sparks and are used by fire services to start backfires. Citizens are not permitted to buy or be in possession of those flares
The driver, 56- year old John Wilson and passenger 54-year old Michael Gulley were arrested on scene. Both men are from McKinleyville. Wilson was on active state parole and faces possession of illicit drugs and illegal fireworks charges. Gulley was on probation and was charged with violation of that probation as well as possession drug paraphernalia.
