TRINIDAD- The spike in winter wildfires may be due to the unusually dry weather conditions, but the lack of rain fall isn’t all bad news.
Today, we talked to people in local businesses who say the weather has helped them. The National Weather Service confirms 2013 was the driest year on record in Eureka, with similar conditions throughout the North Coast. In Trinidad, business owners say more people have been eating at their restaurants than any normal winter.
"With the weather being so nice, this December has been very good for our business because people are coming to the beach and going kayaking or to beach combing," said Erica Ervin, who works at Seascape Restaurant.
"Definitely for Trinidad, whenever it's sunny out, everybody comes to Trinidad to enjoy the beautiful beaches and hopefully stop at the lighthouse grill to eat," said Amy Schiava, who works at The Lighthouse Grill.
