DUI enforcement for St. Patrick's Day
NORTH COAST – With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, the Avoid the 8 DUI Task Force will be out to make sure impaired drivers stay off the road.
Roving patrols will be deployed all around the area to stop and arrest compromised drivers due to alcohol or drugs. In addition, regularly scheduled patrol officers will be looking as well.
In 2013, 31 people were killed in drunk driving crashes. Since 2009, there have been 276 DUI fatalities. Every one of those lives lost was lost to bad decisions.
March 17 has become a deadly day in the United States and it’s not just buzzed driving. Almost three quarters of the fatalities involved drivers who were twice the legal limit.
If you want to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, get a sober friend, taxi or public transportation to take you home. And always call 911 if you see a drunk driver.
