Early morning fire in Eureka causes thousands of dollars in damage
A fire in Eureka Thursday morning caused one resident thousands of dollars in damage and losses of memorabilia.
Humboldt Bay Fire said it started in a garage attached to a house in the 400 block of West Sonoma Street. Fire officials said they received the call of a structure fire just before 6a.m. The first arriving engine reported smoke coming from the garage and requested three additional engines. Firefighters were able to put the fire out within twenty minutes and remained on scene for about two hours.
Fire crews believe the fire was accidental and are unsure what the cause is at this time. Officials estimate that about $7,000 worth damage was done. No one was injured. The fire is still under investigation.
