Eighty percent of Eureka's Most Wanted suspects arrested since creation of list
EUREKA- Eighty percent of Eureka’s Most Wanted have been captured since the Eureka Police Department created the list nearly a year ago.
The most recent arrest from a citizen report happened on Monday, when 24-year-old Eureka resident Lucas Stream-Dutra was taken into custody for possession of stolen property. Since the Most Wanted List was created last February, 44 out of 55 suspects on the list have been arrested, with nearly 40 percent of those arrests resulting from citizen tips. The high priority suspect still at large is 36-year-old Jason Omholt of Eureka. He is believed to be responsible for a string of daytime burglaries and has felony warrants, including warrants for assault with a deadly weapon and vehicle theft. Meanwhile, police urge residents to keep the tips coming in.
"There's a limited number of officers out on the street, but there's literally tens of thousands of citizens and tens of thousands of extra sets of eyes and so we can use those eyes and those ears to point us in the right direction sometimes," said Captain Steve Watson with the EPD.
