Emergency personnel rescue naked woman off banks of Eel River
RIO DELL - Emergency personnel rescued an allegedly naked and disoriented transient female off the Eel River Sunday morning.
Just before 7:30 am, Rio Dell Fire and Police responded to the banks of the Eel after a resident, walking in the area, reported calls for help. A drift boat assisted a rescue crew across the river to aid the victim who was found sitting on a rock. She was wrapped in blankets and transported to Redwood Memorial Hospital for possible hypothermia.
It is not known what circumstances brought the woman to be in the state she was found. Authorities have not released her name. The incident continues to be investigated by police and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department.
