Eurkea Police Department received two grants from the California Office of Traffic safety. A $96,600 grant will go toward a year long program to prevent injuries and deaths on the road through increased enforcement and public awareness.
The grant will help the city's effort to improve traffic safety on Eureka streets. Eureka Police Department said the grant will assist in efforts to handle traffic collisions while reducing injuries and deaths from accidents.
A $19,800 grant will go toward the city's anti-DUI campaign. The grant will help to fund more DUI checkpoints and educate drivers about the dangers of driving while impaired.
