EPD Chief: Homicide on 15th Street likely not random act of violence
EUREKA- The Eureka Police Department continues to investigate a homicide that took place over the weekend.
Twenty-two-year-old Eureka resident Casey Campbell was shot and killed near the intersection of 15th Street and Williams Street early Saturday morning. Police are following up on leads but have not named a suspect at this time. The Eureka Police Chief says the shooting does not appear to be a random act of violence.
"This appears to us to have been more of an incident between people who were known... Somebody out at 4 o'clock in the morning involved in certain types of activities, your chances go way up… It doesn't justify it. It doesn't mean that it's something that should take place, it just means you can control your level of chance of being a victim,” said Police Chief Andrew Mills.
