EUREKA - Law enforcement has released third quarter crime rates and there’s good news and bad news.
The Eureka Police Department says violent crime is down 57 percent while property crime is up nearly 11 percent. Overall, there has been a 3.8 percent increase in crime since last year.
Officials say they are happy about the trend in violent crime but concerned about property crime and will continue to work with the public to reduce those increases. The last several days, the Police Services Department has been out in neighborhoods alerting citizens about taking extra precautions with their property and security.
