EPD working to identify two suspects wanted for multiple burglaries

EUREKA- Local authorities are seeking the public’s help identifying two suspects wanted for a rash of burglaries in Eureka.

Officials with the Eureka Police Department confirm all of the at least 29 burglaries have been at retail stores in the Old Town and Henderson Center areas.  They started back in January. The incidents are primarily happening during the early morning hours. The suspects have been entering businesses by breaking glass. Surveillance footage shows two suspects have committed some of the burglaries, and a single suspect has been seen at other burglaries. The suspects then typically flee on foot or by bike after taking the items. The EPD has increased foot and vehicle patrols in the areas that have been hit, and officials say businesses can take steps to help prevent more of these burglaries from happening.

"We recommend they get high quality surveillance cameras with night vision, audible burglar alarms so that if someone breaks the glass, we're alerted right away, possibly getting private security guards to patrol the area surrounding," said Brittany Kesterson, a Police Services Officer with the EPD.

The suspects both appear to be white or light skinned Hispanic males in their 20's with medium to slender builds. If you have any information, you are asked to call the Eureka Police Department at (707) 441-4060.

Retailers can also contact the EPD to set up appointments for EPD officials to check their security systems and make recommendations for improving security.
