Eureka City Coucil to select Madsen replacement
EUREKA- The Eureka City Council has decided to bypass a special election and instead will appoint someone to fill the Ward Five Seat. Lance Madsen announced he was resigning in October for health reasons.
Madsen was first elected to the council in 1990 and served 8 years. He came back in 2010 for another term and was set to serve until November of 2014. Mayor Frank Jager says they’ll accept applications until November 17 and then they’ll put the top applicants through a committee. His hope is to have a recommendation by the December third meeting. Madsen will continue until the council appoints someone new.
City staff says they’ll have the applications online Wednesday. It may be picked up at City Hall or city staff can e-mail it or mail it out.
