Eureka City Schools staff gear up for upcoming school year
Eureka City Schools staff are gearing up for the upcoming school year.
About four hundred teachers, classified staff and administrators met Tuesday morning at Eureka High School to discuss their goals and Superintendent Dr. Fred Van Vleck’s message for this year “True Grit.”
Van Vleck says the year will include instructional site visits to each Eureka City Schools campus to see what needs to be done, whether it is with the building and facilities or the goals he has for his staff. He says he’s shifting the focus to encompass a set of “instructional norms.”
"Making sure that students are engaged,” Van Vleck said, “making sure that objectives are known by the students, making sure that relationships between teachers and students are strong, making sure that teachers are teaching students with higher level thinking skills.”
School starts for Eureka on Monday August 26th.
