Eureka High School holds Annual Spring Blood Drive
EUREKA- Eureka High School’s Annual Spring Blood Drive is now underway. Dozens of students and people in the community donated blood Wednesday.
The Northern California Community Blood Bank says there’s a great need for blood throughout the North Coast, to accommodate patients in Humboldt and Del Norte counties. Thirty to forty units of blood are needed each day. Organizers are expecting to receive eighty units of blood from the drive.
Joanna Ow of the Northern California Community Blood Bank said, “I think the most important thing to remember is that there’s no substitute for human blood so if you need it the only place you’re going to get it is from somebody else.”
Student and blood donor, Maddie Moore said, “the more I do it the better feeling it gives me that I’m actually helping people out, knowing I can make a difference without really doing much out of my day.”
The blood drive will take place again Thursday morning at 8:15 and wrap up around 3:30.
