Eureka man arrested after allegedly stabbing his dog
A 43-year-old Eureka man was arrested Friday afternoon for allegedly stabbing his dog.
South Bay Elementary School was placed on lock down as deputies searched for Westley Wright. He told authorities that his dog attacked another dog the day before and that he felt it was necessary to kill it. He took the dog outside the home on Purdue Drive and allegedly stabbed it in the shoulder.
Neighbors called 911 and Wright fled the scene in the direction of the elementary school. Deputies located Wright and arrested him for felony animal cruelty. He was booked into the Humboldt County Jail on $35,000 bail.
The dog named “Little Bit” was transported to a veterinarian office in McKinleyville and is expected to survive.
