Eureka man in custody after allegedly stealing a vehicle and ramming a patrol car
Old Arcata Road - A Eureka man is arrested after leading officers in a vehicle pursuit and then ramming them with the car. Taken into custody was 27-year old Anthony Lee Hamilton.
Around 3:30 early Tuesday morning Arcata Police conducted a registration check on a suspicious sedan near Samoa Boulevard and southbound Highway 101. A check revealed the vehicle was stolen from a local dealership. When authorities attempted a stop, Hamilton fled to the Bayside Cutoff then onto southbound Old Arcata Road. The suspect lost control and crashed into the center median of the Indianola roundabout. The officer in pursuit stopped behind Hamilton who then allegedly rammed the patrol car multiple times sustaining injuries in the crash.
He was taken to St. Joseph Hospital before being booked into jail for vehicle theft, evading a peace officer and assault with a deadly weapon.
