Eureka man robs gas station then turns himself in.
EUREKA - An armed robbery in Eureka went in reverse when the wanted suspect arrived back on the scene several hours later and turned himself in.
Police arrested 23-year-old Cyle Warren Abbott, Jr. of Eureka. Just after 6 Friday morning, law enforcement was called to a gas station at the 1000 block of Broadway where an employee reported a man had come in brandishing a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded money. He fled the scene with a small amount of cash. Authorities arrived shortly after the incident, were given a description of the alleged robber but couldn’t find him.
Three hours later, the gas station’s assistant manager called the EPD saying the suspect was back on scene and wanting to give the money back. Abbott apologized to officers and employees and said he was trying to turn his life around. He was booked into the Humboldt County jail for armed robbery and parole violation.
