Eureka Police following leads unrelated to Robert Durst in 1997 missing person case
EUREKA- Days after millionaire real estate heir Robert Durst was thrown back into the spotlight, the Eureka Police say they are actively following leads in a 1997 missing persons case but none having to do with Durst.
Durst is accused of murdering his friend Susan Berman 15 years ago in Los Angeles. As of 2003, the eureka police department considered durst one of several investigative leads for the disappearance of Karen Marie Mitchell. Chief Andrew Mills told NBC News he would like to speak with investigators in the durst murder case, but Friday told News Channel 3 none have reached out so far.
He also said the investigation is ongoing and they have not ruled out Durst but they are not focusing on him as a main suspect at this time. Mills would not say when the department received the leads they are currently following.
