Eureka Police go door to door to inform public of burglaries
EUREKA - Police have begun going door to door to caution citizens after 21 daytime burglaries in Eureka.
Law enforcement says the neighborhoods of Fairfield, Henderson, parts of Harris and 14th and Wabash Streets have been hardest hit.
Suspects have been forcing open rear doors or windows, accessing houses through open garages or alleys. Authorities are encouraging homeowners to be proactive in protecting themselves by making sure all doors and windows are locked, getting to know their neighbors and reporting any suspicious persons or activity.
Wednesday, police arrested 31-year-old Rajean Achane of Eureka. He had an active warrant out for possession of stolen property. When officers contacted him, they found fresh evidence he had alleged stolen property from a burglary earlier in the day. Achane was booked into the Humboldt County Jail.
