Eureka Veterans Memorial Building to be repaired
The Eureka Veterans Memorial Building will be getting repaired after experiencing earthquake damage back in 2010.
On January 9, of that year, Humboldt was struck by the earthquake which caused the county to be declared a disaster area by the state.
Because of this, the state will provide 75% of damage costs, with the county expected to match 25%.
Yesterday, the Board of Supervisors voted to contract the work out to Adams Commercial General Contracting, Inc. – a Eureka construction company – for 6.8 million dollars.
Along with fixing the structural damage, the repairs will bring the building up to code standards and make it accessible for those with disabilities.
