Eureka woman allegedly chases and stabs employee at Bayshore Mall
EUREKA- A Eureka woman allegedly chased and stabbed a female employee at the Bayshore Mall on Monday night.
Around 7:15 p.m., a woman called the Eureka Police Department saying someone was trying to stab her. Mall security and an off duty police officer detained 26-year-old Cayla Tatum before authorities arrived. Tatum admitted to stabbing the employee. Police say it was an unprovoked attack and Tatum chased the victim from store to store before cornering and stabbing her. The victim sustained non life-threatening injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital. Tatum was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon after getting medically cleared at St. Joseph Hospital.
