Fair Board seeking independent district
DEL NORTE COUNTY- The future of the Del Norte County fairgrounds remains uncertain. On Tuesday, the fair board is requesting the county supervisors to approve the creation of an independent district to manage the grounds. After the state ended funding for fairs, the Del Norte Fair Board said they would lose over $100,000 dollars in funding. At the meeting tomorrow, the Del Norte County Board of Supervisors will discuss the possibility of the fair grounds being run under the Parks and Recreation District.
In addition, the fair board hopes to get a new quarter cent sales tax on the November 2014 ballot in order to increase revenue for the fairgrounds. The meeting is Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Flynn Center in Crescent City.
