Fatal collision takes the life of a Crescent City woman

DEL NORTE COUNTY- A fatal accident takes the life of a Crescent City woman. The California Highway Patrol has identified her as 66-year-old Mary James. The accident happened just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday. The driver, 73-year-old Don James was driving a Dodge truck with a trailer attached on Highway 199 north of Walker Road. According to the CHP the driver was entering a slight left hand turn, when for unknown reasons traveled over the roadway, causing the right side of the trailer to hit a tree. As for the truck, it continued to travel down the edge hitting another tree head on with the two passengers inside. 
 
The driver, Don James suffered minor injuries but the passenger, Mary James was trapped inside and later died as a result of her injuries. 
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
