A man is dead after the US Coast Guard along with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department and Samoa Fire responded to a
water rescue at Samoa Beach. Sheriff’s Deputies say two men went swimming late this afternoon but one did not come back. US
Coast Guard was training nearby and deputies had them fly over the area. They were able to locate a body floating in the water.
Two Sheriffs Deputies pulled the body to shore and administered CPR. At the time, the victim was unconscious and had no pulse.
After CPR, authorities detected a pulse but the victim was still unconscious. He was transported to the hospital. Authorities are
now saying the man has passed away from his injuries. Stay tuned to News Channel 3 for updates on this story.
