One man is dead after a vehicle accident on Highway 299, just West of Willow Creek. The call came in around 8pm Thursday evening. The California Highway Patrol tells us an elderly male was driving a Kia Forte westbound on 299, as the driver began to turn, his car traveled into the eastbound lane, crossed the double yellow lines, and hit a woman driving a Subaru.
The man was trapped inside his vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency personnel. Shortly after, he died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
As for the female that was hit, she suffered minor injuries. The California Highway Patrol says DUI does not appear to be a factor.
Do you think all emergency response vehicles should be equipped with in-car video systems?
