Fatality on Hwy 199

A crash in Del Norte County has led to a fatality. California Highway Patrol says a Dodge Ram pickup towing a 25 foot trailer southbound on Hwy 199 lost control and went over an embankment late this afternoon. A male and female were in the truck at the time. The female passenger was pinned inside the cab for some time before rescue personnel could free her. She succumbed to her injuries on the way to the hospital. The male driver was taken to Sutter Coast Hospital for treatment.
