Felon jailed after resisting arrest and found with gun and methamphetamine
NORTH COAST - A felon on probation is arrested after law enforcement conducts a search and finds a loaded weapon and methamphetamine.
Taken into custody was 45-year old Andrew Boyce Campbell. Yesterday afternoon around 3, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an argument between Campbell and his neighbor off Highway 36 near Swain’s Flat.
The deputy recognized Campbell as a felon on probation with a search and seizure clause. When law enforcement told Campbell they would be searching his residence he ran to his home and resisted the deputy. After trying to force Campbell to the ground and warning him multiple times, a Taser was used and the suspect was arrested. A search turned up a 357 Colt Python handgun loaded with hollow point bullets and a small amount of methamphetamine. Campbell was booked into the Humboldt County Jail with the following charges: a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, obstructing and resisting an officer and violation of probation. He is being held without bail.
