On Friday, August 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. there will be training scenarios taking place near Commercial and 4th streets in Eureka. The scenarios are part of the College of the Redwoods Crime Scene Investigators Course:
Ferndale car pursuit reaches speeds over 100 mph, spike strips deployed
FERNDALE- A high-speed car pursuit ends with one arrest Monday. Ferndale police said the chase reached speeds of nearly 120 miles per hour in Ferndale.
According to the Ferndale Police Department John Hanley, 36, led officers on a pursuit down Highway 211 after police caught him driving recklessly.
Hanley then led officers onto southbound Highway 101 where he was eventually stopped when police deployed spike strips. Hanley admitted that he threw a bag of methamphetamine out of window during the pursuit, although police were unable to find it.
He was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Jail on two felony charges for evading police.
