Ferndale firefighters bring gifts to children on Christmas Day
Santa wasn’t the only one bearing gifts today. The Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department delivered four bicycles to a family in Ferndale this morning. These bicycle deliveries have been going on for 18 years. The four children who received the bikes today range from ages 7 to 15. The bicycles were purchased from donations and fundraisers through the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department. Nearly 30 families have received bikes since the giveaway started. The Captain of Company #1, Captain Donald Bowen, says it is always a moving moment.
"It was very humbling. All of them were crying. The mom was crying. It just sits you back and makes you think about what it's all about,” said Captain Bowen.
Do you think the bicycle buffer law will make it more safe for cyclists?
