First piece of evidence presented at trial of Bodhi Tree
EUREKA-The first piece of evidence was presented to the jury showing the key witness had allegedly been with Bodhi Tree during the Eureka attempted murder.
In court today, a drawing inside a magazine was presented. The doodle had been allegedly done by Sean Butler Smith and had been left in the car that took Butler Smith and Bodhi Tree to the crime.
Peter Cress, a former detective with the Eureka Police Department, said he had seen Butler Smith drawing the same Mickey Mouse doodle during his interview as the one found in the car. Cress said this drawing confirmed that Butler Smith was with Tree during the shooting.
The defense focused on the first suspect of the case, Marvin Mathews, and about his previous relationship with the victim, Rhett August.
Cress will continue his testimony on Thursday.
