Flores pleads "not guilty" for murder of Eureka man at Royal Inn Motel
William Flores pled “not guilty” to a murder charge with a special allegation today for the death of a 33-year-old Eureka man.
Flores is suspected of stabbing Joshua Lloyd Burrell in the parking lot of the Royal Inn Motel in the early morning hours of September 15. News Channel 3 has learned that Burrell was just released from jail on his own recognizance. Lieutenant Steve Knight with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office said that he was in for a narcotics arrest and was released just after midnight on September 15. It was only an hour later that he would be fatally stabbed.
Flores faces charges for the murder and a special allegation for involvement with a street gang. Deputy Pubic Defender Heidi Holmquist is representing him. Flores will be back in court for his preliminary hearing on October 7.
