FERNDALE- Clothing, beeswax and dog collars are just some of the items people shopped for on Friday at the 46th annual Folks Christmas Craft Fair in Ferndale.
The fair is hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 6353 and was held at the Ferndale Veterans Memorial Building. Nearly 40 vendors had tables set up at the event. Vendors purchased the table space, with that money going towards veterans services, the Ferndale Community Chest and the Eureka Rescue Mission. Organizers expect to raise about $1,000 by the time the fair wraps up on Saturday.
"It's nice to meet people and you have friends. You really make some very, very good friends and you exchange ideas and patterns. And this is what I enjoy the most. It's not the money. It's more the companionship," said Mary Laffranchi, who has been a vendor at the event for the last eight years.
"I love crafting and I love people who do craft and so I like to chat with them. It reminds me of Christmas because everybody's all excited about the holiday and doing all sorts of fun stuff this time of year," said Emily Marshall, who lives in Santa Rosa and was shopping at the event.
